In the blackness of the morning hours When sleep alludes my being And whispering phantoms lurk In dark corners of my mind unseen And dreams and hopes fade into the shadows Leaving not a trace And silent screams release the tears That gently wash my face And I peek into tomorrow For just one small hint of light So that I'll know I've again survived The terrors of the night -hope1971
