this will be done chapter by chapter BLACK ROSE by Azrael Duchante The Girl Music pounding, I make my way across the dance floor. Seeing nothing of interest I stop, and begin to dance in the middle of the floor. Feeling the music through my body I dance almost flawlessly and as the song finishes in a slow digression, I stop dancing and make my way to the bar, squeezing through the throng of drunken clubber’s and dancers. Finally reaching the bar I order a double shot of tequila, downing it I go back to the floor to look for someone to dance with. Making it back to my original spot I find someone has taken it, a lovely black haired someone. I say nothing and slowly make my way to a spot beside her, almost touching but not quite. We make contact as the song speeds up, she dances faster as if telling me to try to keep up. I notice a pair of pewter rose earrings while we sway to the heavy and fast beat of the music. A new song plays over the speakers as we both make our way back to the bar, reaching the bar she tells me her name is Alexa, I reply with my name, not as beautiful but she seems to like it. I order my tequila and she orders the same, downing the drinks at the same time we decide we’ve had enough. Almost knocking down anyone in our way, we reach the bitter chill of the January air as we leave The Dancing Dead. She was going to call a cab but I offered a ride to her home. Agreeing to my proposal, we walk to the parking lot. On the way to her apartment we start talking about things we left behind by coming to the big city because apparently we both grew up in sickeningly sweet hometowns, we both reply “everything” with different wording and pronunciation but it’s all the same. Reaching the apartment building she ask’s if I wanted to come up. Being a guy I of course say yes even if it was just to talk. Climbing the stairs I could not help but see how pale her skin was, I guess the reason I didn’t see it before is because of the lack of lighting everywhere. This place was ugly, when I finally took my eyes off her I saw that the paint was peeling, there was a cockroach on the wall and the lights were blinking, although I’m not the one to complain, my first place was even worse. Reaching the top of the stairs we walk to the end of the hall to room number 13, and think to myself there’s no way I’m getting lucky tonite, unlocking the door she opens it and I step in. “Wow.” Those were my words as I entered the lushly decorated apartment. All of the furniture was gothic, black was the dominating color. Making my way to the couch as she goes to fix us a drink I begin to like the decor. She returns from the kitchen with two bloody Mary’s, sipping I notice a slightly coppery taste to my Mary. After three hours of talking we finally get to know each other, she is a painting major from Juliart, 23, single, and has had three bad relationships in her life. She told me that she has had two galleries, sold all of her work and is still painting. A good night kiss and I’m off, not feeling tipsy I figure it’s safe for me to drive back to my apartment. Descending the stairs I saw something in the corner of my eye, turning around I am startled by an adolescence of the gothic persuasion staring at me. Ignoring him I head for my car finding it not broken into or stolen(surprisingly), I unlock the door. Climbing in I am interrupted by the teen I saw earlier “lets take a drive now shall we” he said with an evil looking grin on his lips. Driving down the same district he takes me to a place so cheerfully called the “car dump.” While I’m driving I see that his seatbelt isn’t fastened, perfect. Slamming the brakes I shift into reverse and grab my nine millimeter from under the dash, I bet he didn’t count on me being a somewhat of a weapons enthusiast. Unlocking the door I knock him out of the car. He left his gun on the car floor so I pick it up and meet him outside. With my nine millimeter in one hand and his thirty-eight special in the other I figure I should give this punk a chance, I fire at his head with the special, the guns firing pin falls out and the gun is useless. I look down to him and say “get a better dealer kid, this product is shoddy.” Pointing the nine at his kneecap I smile and say “how would you like to be a cripple,” not liking the proposition he tosses a roll of one hundred dollar bills at my feet, I let him go, call him a cab, and give him back the roll of cash for at least getting as far as taking a fellow car thief to a secluded area. As he gets in the cab and he gives thanks for not giving him another hole in his head, before the cab drives away into the night I see rose tattooed on the back of his neck, tiny but slightly noticeable, man this night is just getting weirder and weirder.
